 Deciphering God's dreams for you

How many of us have gone through life living someone else's dream? Not quite sure how to answer, let me help you. Probably all your life you've seen other people live a particular way and you somehow entered into their lives vicariously, and began to go where they went, do what they did, think what they thought and acted the way they acted. You probably didn't even realize it, but ten years down the road you stop, and you recognize that you don't necessarily like this dream for yourself. Then there are those who have gone along with the status quo, in other words whatever society has said you should be doing, that’s what you do. Then you finally mature enough to understand that God gave you…your one life, he didn't give it to society or anyone else to live for you. Hopefully it’s not too late to take a serious stab at figuring out what God has for you personally.

Now we see what the scripture says in the bible book of Jeremiah 29, and it seems to be abstract and general, however let’s begin the deciphering process. First and foremost, you must be a believer in the WHOLE promises of God.  The bible is replete with how God feels about you and your life, and none of it is negative, believe that first!  Now try to visualize what God sees and says about you to begin the process of internalization.  That’s when his personal vision for you will begin to come clear. God will never leave you; he is Jehovah Shammah, and he will be right there with you always.

In your past have you ever envisioned yourself doing and having something that your conscious life rejects? That was probably the spirit of the Lord trying to breakthrough your negative images of yourself and place his plans, desires, and dreams in you, but you probably refused it. Now you must revisit those times and stay in that space for a while and do your best to wrap your mind around it. What do you believe God's vision for your life is right now? What do you think he is trying to accomplish through you? Your answer represents your best understanding of His plans, dreams, and vision for your life, it is not your final insight though, you will probably find better ways to state what you mean later as it becomes clearer to you.
